meditating-by-the-lakeI am a student of the contemplative and studied under Richard Rohr, Cynthia Bourgeault and James Finley in the Living School for Action and Contemplation.  As an activist I am very drawn to contemplative practice and value it as an internal practice so often lacking in western religion. It balances out the outward action of activism with a quiet inner life practice of letting go toward building awareness of ego. I believe the practice is deeply restorative and I strive to bring this practice to my context as an activist.

“Until you unveil and take ownership of your own inner thoughts and responses, outer behavioral changes will not last long, and are often bogus signs of transformation.” -Richard Rohr

    Hello Holly,

I was searching the net for an image of contemplation for inspiration for my morning meditation, and was brought to your site. I have been on the contemplative path for a couple of years now, and, funny thing, I find myself believing less and less in coincidences. So I decided to leave you a note since we seem to have a lot in common. I have read almost everything Rohr has written and I firmly believe he is a true prophet for our times. Write back and let me know what’s going on!
